Farmers in many countries have at their disposal several options to control their energy expenditures of agriculture. One available choice that the farmers have not extensively adopted is the technology of solar energy for generation of electricity. The main objective of this research work was to have an idea of thelevel of farmers’ adoption of solar-powered water pumps and the major factors that influence adoption behavior. The study therefore usedan extended UTAUT model to examine the adoption behavior of farmers regarding solar-powered pumps. A survey was used for the UTAUT model application. The study found that few farmers were found to use solar photovoltaic technology and solar equipment for farming. Decisions of farmers on adoption were found to be influenced by many factors including environmental change, economic benefits, government policies, awareness, costs of technology etc. It was observed that increasing the level of awareness and provision of government policies such as subsidies and incentives to reduce the costs of solar water pumps could increase farmers’ level of adoption. From the results, the authorsinfer that farmers’ lack of knowledge of new farming technologies and schemes resulted in some farmers not investing in solar-powered pumps.

We are into the era where each individual, each device and each object is getting connected through the magical technology called “The Internet of things” on a scale that is inconceivable and it has turned out to be the popular innovation in the present situation. IoT empowers us to detect the physical medium to get to the information and transmit it by using the proper communication technology by interconnecting the detecting medium and the applications. IoT has numerous applications in every domain. Agriculture is one such domain. In this paper, we will look at farming applications from an IoT point of view and how fundamentally the impact of IoT can change the manner in which we do farming. Before structuring any of the IoT applications, it is especially required to have a short comprehension of the compositional perspective on the IoT architecture. In this paper, we have tried to explain diverse IoT architectures. Then towards the end, we have discussed an architecture that is appropriate unique for agriculture. We have, likewise, examined the interfacing technologies, challenges and applications for agricultureas considered from the IoT perspective.

Explaining the Challenges Facing the Development of Entrepreneurial University: The Application of Grounded Theory

Journal of Contemporary Issues in Business and Government, 2021, Volume 27, Issue 3, Pages 2561-2568

An entrepreneurial university is a new approach to improving the quality of higher education systems around the world. However, the lack of a transparent mechanism has prevented Iranian universities from turning into an entrepreneurial university. In this regard, the present study aimed to identify the barriers facing the development of an entrepreneurial university in Islamic Azad University (Science and Research Branch). The statistical population was composed of managers and faculty members of the university, of whom 24 respondents were selected by the snowball sampling method. Using Grounded Theory, the respondents were subjected to in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed by NVivo10 software. In total, 55 codes were extracted in the open-coding step. Finally, eight main concepts were derived through the codifying hierarchy of Grounded Theory according to which the challenges included academic, distance, operational, human, management, strategic, political, and cultural ones. Each concept expresses one aspect of the subject. According to the results, the distance challenge is the most important challenge of the entrepreneurial university development at Islamic Azad University. The paper is concluded with some practical suggestions to facilitate the path to an entrepreneurial university.

Development of innovative import substitution in the agro-industrial complex as a key factor in overcoming interregional differentiation and depression of agrarian-oriented and highly subsidized North Caucasian republics

Journal of Contemporary Issues in Business and Government, 2021, Volume 27, Issue 2, Pages 3955-3960

The growth of globalization processes, the aggravation of competition and the protracted economic and technological sanctions against the Russian Federation have necessitated adjusting the strategic goals that are being addressed within the context of import substitution. The Russian policy of import substitution in the agricultural sector should be implemented on the basis of large-scale technological modernization of agro-industrial production, the systematic use of innovations at all stages of the production cycle and the creation of conditions for diversification of production. The practice of implementing the strategy of import substitution in the Russian agrarian economy over the past five years has already made it possible to form a stable trend of growth in production of certain types of agricultural products. At the same time, the competitiveness of Russian agricultural products is still quite low due to the low productivity of agricultural machinery, backwardness of selection and genetic engineering, the lack of domestic seeds, etc. No less relevant limiting factor is the lack of an integral concept of innovative import substitution, the imperfection of tools for neutralizing and squeezing out imports by business entities. In these conditions, in our opinion, it is necessary to direct the entire natural resource and scientific and technical potential of the national economy to import substitution, because under current conditions there is no other way to ensure the economic and food security of the Russian Federation. The study of the morphogenesis of the process under consideration made it possible to establish that the features of building and implementation of the import substitution policy in the conditions of an innovation-oriented economy have not yet been analysed; the specific advantages and weak links of import substitution strategies have not been identified. There is still no single interpretation of the main categories; the possibilities and limitations of implementation of import substitution policy in the context of the need to increase the level of innovative activity have not been substantiated. All this, of course, requires the immediate development of theoretical and methodological approaches to the content of the strategy and tools for import substitution, taking into account the peculiarities of the Russian agrarian economy, all this determined the choice of our research topic.
